Alan Heeks Alan Heeks is a consultant, entrepreneur and writer with a deep interest in creating sustainability at the personal, business and environmental levels. Alan began his career in brand management with Procter and Gamble in the UK . He then spent two years in the USA, obtaining an MBA with High Distinction from the Harvard Business School. He progressed through international marketing and sales positions, and at age 35, was appointed Managing Director of the Prismo Division of Redland plc, a major UK building materials manufacturer. In 1985, Alan became a founder-investor and Parent Board Director of Caradon plc, a management buy-in which grew within ten years to become a UK Top 100 company. He was appointed Managing Director of Twyfords Bathrooms, the largest subsidiary with 1500 people, and led the company through a major turnaround in strategy, profits and morale. In 1989, Alan founded Working Vision, an innovative consultancy focused on sustainable personal and organisational development. Clients include many major businesses, such as 3M, Mercury, Glaxo and BP, social enterprises, public sector bodies, and business education clients. The other land-based project which Alan has founded is Hazel Hill Wood, a 70-acre woodland nature reserve and retreat centre which he manages near Salisbury , Wiltshire. The programme includes a variety of seasonal celebrations, retreats, personal development workshops and conservation days. Alan's latest major project is the Rural Renewal Company, which aims to promote rural renewal and sustainable community through mixed-use developments with eco-housing, social enterprises and community land facilities. The Rural Renewal Company operates as a consultancy, joint venture partner and prime developer of projects.
